Kyle McBride: For me it simply came down to opportunities, I’m at that point in time in my life where I simply could not refuse this great opportunity to join another team and move forward with my racing career and to secure my future.NeoBuggy: Kyle, you’re the second high-profile factory team driver to confirm you’re leaving Kyosho, talk us through some of the reasons ?
Kyle: This years worlds for me was a solid finish but at the same time I knew It could have ended up better! But we live and learn at each race and I’m only looking forward to the next.NeoBuggy: You equalled your 2010 Worlds finish of 4th this time in Sicily, the highest up finishing Kyosho as well, how would you rate your Worlds performance in your own words from start to finish ?
Kyle: For where I’m at in my life at the moment this opportunity was definitely a move ‘at the right time’. Giving me the opportunity to further push my 1/10th racing along with continueing my 1/8th.NeoBuggy: You burst onto the Offroad scene in Thailand back in 2010, stealing some of the limelight and kickstarting your career, after racing for Kyosho at the last two World Championships was it the right time to move on ?
Kyle: Result persuaded my new sponsor, nothing had been decided during the worlds.NeoBuggy: Had you decided already at the Worlds to make the move or did your result persuade your new sponsor ?
Kyle: I can’t complain it was an awesome experience and a win I won’t forget in my career. I look forward heading back to the new track in Vegas in the new few years to get ready for the next world championship, should be awesome !NeoBuggy: Despite living a little further geographically from some of the main racing hubs, you’re the reigning Silver state Champion, which runs on a new track next year – host of the 2016 Worlds, bodes well ?!
Kyle: Yes my intentions are to do quite a few more races internationally that I did not get to attend in the previous 2 years. Along with more 1/10th races overseas!NeoBuggy: With your new sponsor, will we see you competing at more international events outside of Asia ?
I would also like to take this time while I’m here to not only recognise the support but give all my thanks and respect to the entire Kyosho company/family for supporting my racing career over the last two years. I’ve had such great and memorable results and joy racing for kyosho and it will be sad to leave. I am glad to have left on good terms and I wish all of the team and everyone at Kyosho the very best!
