The few things I noticed right away was the free roll improvement when letting off the throttle because of the new style gears. The car has a much better rotation in the corners, so you wont have to drive this car as hard to go fast! The gear ratio looks to be the same even though it has new gears, the car feels to accelerate harder and has more top speed and better fuel mileage. More strait line traction.
Taylor, Barry and Chad have been testing the car since early October. I have some video I will try to post tonight. The 6 is a great car as you all know and the 7 continues Mugen reputation of making something great even greater. The car jumps very well, lower to the ground and is planted once it lands. The drivetrain is much more free, making the car faster in rolling the corners and great for fuel mileage. The corner speed is very good with this car. The tank is one of my favorite parts, being that we have been consistently using a fuel gun with no issues.
Off set lower ball for the 4 shock ends, new adjustment, where you can change the shock angle in relation to the arm angle, pretty cool adjustment when you want to change the dampening of the shocks by something other than the shock oil or piston.
The engine remains a constant idle if the car is on its lid and has no issue once flipped over and back on the gas. Another cool thing is the wing. It is shaped more agressively and is slotted so it can provided some adjustability on downforce. The brake discs now have extra support as they slide over the center outdrives and that keeps the discs centered. The brake pads can be ran closer together with less friction and the brakes are excellent. The brake linkage has been updated and is very nice and clean. As you build the car you will notice the changes, which are many and well thought out.
The car is very durable and all the drivers testing the car have been reporting the same. All of the Mugen team is sharing information in an effort to have a strong Worlds team and Mugen made a strong effort to get this car out in time for some testing before the event.
